Windows will periodically notify you about the availability of new Windows updates. You can also proactively check for new updates and run them yourself. Follow the steps listed below to check for and install updates on a device running Windows 11:

## **To update Windows:**

1. From the **Start Menu**, click **Settings**.

2. At the bottom of the Settings menu, click **Windows Update**.

3. Click **Check for updates**. In the example screenshot below, Windows has already detected several security updates available and is finishing its check. Click the **Install** button to begin installing any updates.

4. If no updates are found, Windows will display “**You’re up to date**.” You can also enable or check various other update-related settings on this page, including:
  - activating an **auto-update** feature
  - **pausing updates **for a chosen period of time
  - checking the computer’s **update history**
