Licensing depends on the software title and type.  ## **Academic Use**  Academic Software is for teaching and learning. Titles are available at no or low cost through the [https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CPKB/pages/1785495553](https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CPKB/pages/1785495553) . Browse the hub for available software.  ### ***Academic Software Example***? *A Faculty member will be teaching a course that requires SolidWorks. This software title is available for the students and Faculty at no charge.*  **Please visit the **[https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/x/YwIl](https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/x/YwIl) ** article for a list of eligible titles and instructions for installing them.** --- ## **Business Use**   Business Software is used by a unit, division, or college and follows Cal Poly’s [procurement](https://afd.calpoly.edu/procure-to-pay/how-to-buy/technology/) process. Licenses for some enterprise software packages used by Cal Poly are managed by departments, while others are managed by ITS. Check with the departmental subject matter expert or ITS on how to obtain the business software you need.   ### ***Business Software Example?***  *A staff member needs access to a departmental specific software like ImageNow, Questica, or a unique software for their department. The staff member should ask their team or the sponsoring department for a license or access. If they aren’t sure where to go, ITS can assist.*` ` --- ## **Personal Use**  Cal Poly provides personal use licensing for some software titles. ### ***Personal Use Example?***  *A Faculty member would like to use Adobe Creative Cloud for a hobby outside their normal commitments to coursework.*  --- > ℹ️ **NOTICE:** > ℹ️ > ℹ️ It is up to the faculty, staff, or student to use the application responsibly and for its intended use.  > ℹ️ > ℹ️ Per the Cal Poly [Responsible Use Policy](https://policy.calpoly.edu/cap/1200/cap-1200), all software installed on Cal Poly-managed workstations and personal devices used for university business must be used in compliance with the licensing agreement established with the vendor.
