Follow the steps below when setting up your softphone (MiCollab) for the first time.

## Set Up MiCollab on Mac or PC

1. **Download and install** the MiCollab App using the links below, or by using the link provided in the MiCollab installation Instructions sent to your email.
  1. [Windows](https://p-collab-app-1.its.calpoly.edu/ucs/dl/micollab_pc.msi)
  2. [Mac](https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/app/micollab/id1103663781?mt=12)
    
2. Click the **QR code** provided in the MiCollab installation Instructions email to activate the MiCollab app with an **Authentication Key**.  
*If your authentication key has expired, see the ****MiCollab Self Deployment**** section of the **[Softphone (MiCollab) Troubleshooting](https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CPKB/pages/1961558017)** guide to get a new activation link.*
  
3. Enter your **Cal Poly portal password**.
4. Click the **Prompt** text in the lower right, and toggle the switch to turn on your softphone. In the Call Using drop-down menu, select **SoftPhone.**

## Set Up MiCollab on Mobile

### iOS

1. Go to the **Apple App Store**, and search for **[MiCollab](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/micollab/id1103663781?mt=12)**. Download and launch the free app.
2. Scan or click the **QR code** provided in the MiCollab installation Instructions email to activate the MiCollab app with an **Authentication Key**.

### Android

1. Go to the **Google Play Store**, and search for **[MiCollab](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mitel.ucang&hl=en_US&gl=US)**. Tap the **Install **button to download and launch the free app.
2. Scan or click the **QR code** provided in the MiCollab installation Instructions email to activate the MiCollab app with an **Authentication Key**.

## Call Handling

### Make Outgoing Calls

Use the **Search or Dial** bar at the top of MiCollab to dial a number. Use the following formats for phone numbers:

- On-campus numbers (extensions): 6xxxx
- External numbers: 71xxxxxxxxxx

### Transfer a Call

1. Click the **menu icon** in the bottom right of MiCollab and select **Transfer**.
  
2. Use the search bar in the Transfer window to type in a number, then click the **Blind Transfer** icon in the lower right.

### Mute and Hold

1. During a call, you can mute your microphone using the **microphone icon** in the bottom left of MiCollab. If you have another window selected, you can use the microphone button In-Call pop-up window to mute instead.
2. Alternatively, you can put the customer on hold using the **pause** button in MiCollab.   
*You will not be able to hear the customer after they are put on hold.*

## Setting Custom Ringtones

You can customize the ringtone for your incoming MiCollab Client notifications by using custom audio files.

> ℹ️ **Note:** Ensure you are familiar with the audio file formats and advanced configuration before customizing ringtones.

1. Navigate to your **system application data folder**   
*(This is normally an invisible folder)*:
  `%APPDATA%\Mitel Networks Corporation\MiCollab\`
2. Create a folder and rename it to **custom**.
3. Choose an audio file in *.wav* or *.mp3* file format. Rename the *ringtone.wav* or *ringtone.mp3*.
4. Copy this audio file to the below folder path:
  `%APPDATA%\Mitel Networks Corporation\MiCollab\custom`

> ✅ If you experience low ringtone volume for MiCollab notifications, use a higher-volume audio file or disable audio ducking in the Client.

## Adding a URL to MiCollab

If you are using MiCollab as a softphone for Call Center, you might want to add a link so you can easily log into the Call Center Web Application.

1. Launch **MiCollab**
2. Click on the **three dots **on the upper right-hand side and select **Add URL**.
  
3. **Name** your Shortcut, and **paste in the URL** for the Call Center
  *For example: **[http://solidus.calpoly.edu/webagent/#/login/Cal_Poly_Main](http://solidus.calpoly.edu/webagent/#/login/Cal_Poly_Main)*
4. You are now able to click on the **Call Center** link to launch your default browser, and go straight to the login to the Call Center Web Application.

*This URL will follow you on whatever devices you use MiCollab on.*
