--- title: "Multi-Factor Authentication (Duo)" canonical: "https://tech.calpoly.edu/space/CPKB/2425367/Multi-Factor%20Authentication%20(Duo)" format: markdown --- ![DUO app logo](media://1a9d8bb6-b7e3-471f-9027-8178782e066d) **Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required on all Cal Poly students, faculty, staff, and emeriti accounts. ****[Need help getting set up?](https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CPKB/pages/3539066)** Cal Poly uses the **Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA) app** to verify the identities of students, faculty and staff when logging in to any web-based technology service that requires a Cal Poly username and password. *(MFA is NOT required for Cal Poly shared club/department accounts.)* > ⚠️ **IMPORTANT:**** ** > ⚠️ > ⚠️ - **DO NOT CHOOSE FACE/TOUCH ID when you first enroll a device.** > ⚠️ - **Choose** **Duo Mobile (Push)** as the primary form of authentication. > ⚠️ > ⚠️ **What if I already chose Face/Touch ID initially?** > ⚠️ If you’ve already set up Face/Touch ID as your first form of authentication, here’s how you can change that: > ⚠️ > ⚠️ 1. Log in to **My Cal Poly Portal **using the device that you set up with Face/Touch ID. > ⚠️ 2. Click the **Personal Info** tab. > ⚠️ 3. Under the **Authorized Devices** tab, click **Multi-factor Authentication**. > ⚠️ 4. [Enroll your primary device ](https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CPKB/pages/3539066)using Duo multi-factor authentication, usually with a mobile device using the [Duo Mobile app](https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CPKB/pages/3440861). 2.
