Learn what steps to take when returning a university-owned iPhone.

## iPhone

1. [Sign out of iCloud and remove your Apple Account](https://support.apple.com/en-us/104958).
2. [Erase all content and settings from your old iPhone](https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/erase-all-content-and-settings-iph7a2a9399b/ios).
3. Return your old iPhone to the Telephone Coordinator.

> ℹ️ - iPhones that have been turned into departments by previous users may not be available for re-activation due to Apple's Activation Lock.
> ℹ️ - If the previous user does not sign out of iCloud and you need to [unlock the Activation Lock](https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CPKB/pages/2425481), it takes 10 business days to get the device unlocked by Apple. You will need proof of purchase including the phone's serial number (found in the device's **Settings** > **[your name] **>**[the phone's name] **>** Serial Number**), receipt, and a copy of the back of the box from the phone's original packaging. If you do not have a copy of the receipt, your department Telephone Coordinator will need to submit a [Campus Phone Support request](https://calpoly.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2/group/10).

## Android

2. [Reset your Android device to factory settings](https://support.google.com/android/answer/6088915?hl=en).
3. Return your old phone to the Telephone Coordinator.
