Knowing a device/computer’s name is useful to your tech team for remote assistance, device identification, and network management.

## Mac

From the Desktop, click the **Apple logo**, click **About This Mac**, then click **More Info**...

## Windows

### From the Desktop

Right-click the **Windows Start Menu**, then click **System**.

A System –> About information panel will display the “Device Name,” which is also the computer name.

### From the Login Screen

Type **.\ **into the username field.   
*The computer name will show below the password field, adjacent to “Sign in to”.*
