When connecting your MacBook to the HDMI input in many classrooms or conference rooms, **an extra step is needed** to ensure audio plays through the room’s speakers.

> 📝 **By default**, video will display on the monitor or projector, but **sound will continue to play through your MacBook’s internal speakers** unless you** **change the audio output setting…

## **To route audio through the classroom or conference room speakers, follow these steps: **

### **STEP 1 - Open Control Center. **

- Click the **Control Center icon** in the menu bar at the top right of your screen.

### **STEP 2 - Access Sound Settings **

- Hover over the **Sound section**; an expand icon will appear.
- Click to expand the **Sound menu**.

> ⚠️ If you do not see the Extron HDMI option, ensure the **HDMI cable is securely connected** and the room’s AV system is **powered ON**.

**STEP 3 - Select Extron HDMI from the list. **

- This will send audio to the room’s speakers instead of your MacBook’s speaker.

> ℹ️ **NOTE:**
> ℹ️ MacBooks do not always automatically switch audio output to HDMI when connected through Extron HDBaseT equipment. Unlike direct HDMI connections to a TV or monitor, you must manually select the HDMI/Extron device as the audio output.
