The format of a class list name is** aaaa-cnnn-ss-yyyq**. Mail sent to the class list name is addressed ***listname@calpoly.edu****.*

| **Characters** | **Description ** |
| **aaaa** | The course abbreviation with all trailing spaces removed |
| **c** | Code for special sections ('e', 'x' or 's'). This is optional and may or may not appear. |
| **nnn** | The three-digit course number |
| **ss** | The two digit course section number |
| **yyy** | The year the course is offered in<br>- The first digit is for the century portion of the year
- The next two digits are for the year |
| **q** | The quarter within the year: Winter = 2, Spring = 4, Summer = 6, Fall = 8 |

**Examples**

- Section 01 of a CSC 110 class taught Fall of 2022 would be: ***csc-110-01-2228@calpoly.edu***.
- Section 02 of an ME 120 class taught Winter of 2023 would be: ***me-120-02-2232@calpoly.edu***
