Recommended specifications for a new student laptop to last a typical four-year college program:

- **Operating system:** Windows 11, 64-bit, or a currently supported version of macOS
- **Processor:** Recent Intel Core 5/Core Ultra 5, AMD Ryzen 5, or better; Apple M3 or newer for Mac
- **Memory:** 16 GB minimum
- **Storage:** 512 GB SSD minimum
- **Graphics:** Integrated graphics, unless the student’s program requires a dedicated GPU
- **Connectivity:** Wi-Fi 6 or newer, webcam, and microphone
- **Warranty:** Three to four years, preferably including accidental-damage protection
