When you change your Cal Poly passphrase/password, your Cal Poly–owned Mac login password does not update automatically to match. Follow the steps below to get your passphrase/password re-synced.

## **Re-Syncing on macOS 15 Sequoia or older and Shared/Lab Macs**

1. After changing your Cal Poly passphrase/password, if you're not on campus, connect to the <u>[Virtual Private Network (VPN)](https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CPKB/pages/2425047)</u>.
2. Open **NoMAD.app** from the Applications folder in Finder.
3. If you are prompted to allow keychain access, click **Always Allow**.

4. <span style="color: #0747a6">*A Sign in dialog box will automatically pop up.*</span>
  1. Enter your **Cal Poly username **(do not include @calpoly.edu)
  2. Enter your **NEW Cal Poly passphrase/password**.
  3. Then click **Sign In**.
    
5. <span style="color: #0747a6">*The NoMAD Sync dialog box should appear.*</span>
  1. Enter your **CURRENT Mac login passphrase/password** in the blank field
  2. Then click **Sync**.
    <span style="color: #0747a6">*Your Mac’s login passphrase/password is now the same as your new Cal Poly passphrase/password.*</span>

## **Re-syncing on macOS 26 Tahoe**

1. After changing your Cal Poly passphrase/password, if you're not on campus, connect to the <u>[Virtual Private Network (VPN)](https://calpoly.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CPKB/pages/2425047)</u>.
2. From the menu bar, click the key icon  , then click **Sign Out** or **Sign In**.
3. <span style="color: #0747a6">*A dialog box will automatically pop up.*</span>
  1. Enter your **Cal Poly username**.
  2. Enter your **NEW Cal Poly passphrase/password**,
  3. Then click **Sign In**.
    
4. <span style="color: #0747a6">A </span><span style="color: #0747a6">*Password Synchronization dialog box*</span><span style="color: #0747a6"> should appear</span><span style="color: #0747a6">*.*</span><span style="color: #0747a6"> </span>
  1. Enter your **NEW Cal Poly passphrase/password** in the first field
  2. Enter your **CURRENT Mac login passphrase/password **in the second field
  3. Click **Sync Password**.

> ℹ️ Your new passphrase/password may not update immediately across all systems. If you are unable to sync your new Cal Poly passphrase/password and your computer passphrase/password, wait an hour and try again.
