Doug Lomsdalen is the Information Security Officer (ISO) for Information Technology Services, and has operational oversight of the campus Information Security Program. His team collects campus requirements and reviews them through a security lens, with an eye for improving processes and expanding Information Security Awareness training.
Lomsdalen earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems from University of Maryland University College and went on to earn two Master’s Degrees—one in Computer Science from the Air Force Institute of Technology and one in Business Administration from Bellevue University. Lomsdalen was first introduced to cybersecurity during his 29-year career in the United States Air Force, first as an Intelligence Specialist and then as a Cyberspace Operations Officer. During his time in the Air Force, Lomsdalen held a wide variety of positions, including IT Director of the Warrior Preparation Center located in Germany. Before joining Cal Poly, Lomsdalen spent two years with Transunion Consumer Interactive, managing day-to-day operations and was responsible for change management across the infrastructure and application stacks.
